Bimal Lakhani is currently Senior Scientist at HealthTech Connex Inc. in Surrey, British Columbia. He completed his B.Sc. degree at the University of Waterloo in Kinesiology and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Toronto in the Department of Rehabilitation Science. His doctoral work investigated the central nervous system processes involved in the generation of rapid corrective balance recovery movements, which are typically impaired following stroke.

Currently, Bimal's research interests are focused on improving the overall quality of life of individuals affected by neurological disorders by understanding the specific mechanisms that result in motor and cognitive challenges and by developing novel rehabilitation strategies and technologies that target those limitations. He is continually researching methods to therapeutically modify brain structure in order to improve upper and lower extremity function, recover balance and mobility deficits, reduce the risk of cognitive decline and enhance the overall quality of life following brain injury.
